Finally!

Finally a real live post! I've missed you guys, hope you've missed me. Today's episode - the strange things that can happen when newly hired coworkers are past students. Two of our new-this-summer food runners are high school seniors who happen to have been my students in junior high. It's not terrible by any stretch, but it does lead to awkwardness sometimes. For example, they are preternaturally incapable of calling me by my first name. I'm used to it, but other servers find it quite hilarious.

girl server - ooh...mr. g, i've been bad.
me - ha ha very funny.
girl server - but maybe i should stay after mr. g so you can punish your naughty student.

As this conversation went on, one of the ex-students walks up within hearing distance.

me - ok, be quiet now, she's coming.
girl server - but mr. g, i don't my think clothes fit the dress code. should i take them off?

At this point, my ex student is clearly coming into hearing range.

me - i'm begging you to stop.

And she did, but probably because she was laughing so hard she could hardly breathe.
